The European Commission has just resolved the call for the selection of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH). DATAlife has achieved the seal of excellence that allows it to be called EDIH and will be the only Galician Digital Innovation Hub to receive financial support from the Commission.

Of the 26 Spanish candidates, 23 achieved the seal of excellence, but only half of them, including DATAlife, will receive financial support from the European Commission. Thus, the Hub becomes a reference Hub at European level with a project of almost six million euros that will be developed in three years, being 50% co-financed by the Commission.

The funds will allow the deployment of its portfolio of services to accelerate the digital transformation of companies in the value chain of agro-sea food, biotechnology, forestry-wood, and healthcare in Galicia.

The high score given to DATAlife in the expected impact of the actions in the work plan stands out, all of them aligned with the Smart Specialization Strategy of Galicia, as well as the main European digitalization policies. The project will be coordinated by the Hub and the consortium includes a large part of its associates. With them, DATAlife will be able to boost the Galician innovation ecosystem, facilitate access to financing, promote training in digitalization, and encourage companies to try disruptive technologies at no cost.

The recognition of the European Commission to DATAlife supports the commitment of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) that supports the Hub since it was chosen as strategic for Galicia in 2019. The European funding will complement the funds it already has, as it receives support in the form of an agreement with the Galician Innovation Agency, but it has also obtained funding from the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE) in the competitive call for Obradoiros 4.0 and in the HIBA project of Interreg-POCTEP funds.
